Zeros and ones, cut from magazines and advertising leaflets, are assembled to form a black zero within a white circle, set against a red ground. Fragments of everyday commercial imagery are stripped of their original context and reduced to the binary language of zeros and ones, becoming material for a simple, highly controlled geometric composition.
The title Binaryism, together with the overt visual reference to the Nazi swastika, introduces a more unsettling dimension. The work draws a parallel between binary code and binary thinking—the reduction of complex ideas into opposing positions: one or zero, us or them, right or wrong. The imagery becomes a reflection on the dangers of ideological polarisation and our tendency to simplify complexity into absolute oppositions.
